Thursday. June 26

Sorry , I have  been  a little preoccupied. Long days  and I had to change hotels again.
There were a couple of days that caused some set backs,  but all is good now.
. Mr. Wong is finally moving into a positive mode.
All his extra life line attachments , I.V. , epidural, antibiotics and fluids , have all been removed. He is back on his normal cocktail of meds including his inhalers.and some pain meds to help the broken parts. His Back , 5 ribs and pelvic.
Physical therapy has him walking the halls. just like all the other invalids.(but slower). He sports the evening  gown quite well.. No tushy showing. The R.N. Call them jonnies and make sure it is tucked into his back brace  just right
He still has an Eco and a lung test to go. Hopefully into rehab tomorrow ......
occupational therapy will teach me how to put on the back brace. It is a must. He is not allowed to be up more than a 30' angle without it.
To be continued ..... Almost home.....
Have great day........

Saturday, day 12

Upon walking into Mr. Wong's room, a greeting of GOOD MORNING: makes me know that he working harder and ready for healing challenges. 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
His appetite has improved. He is asking for food, actually feeling hungry. All of this will help his recovery. Strength builders.
It is the weekend. So. Patients progress seems to be a very slow pace. (The norm for all hospitals)
He is using the phone for texting. Any messages that require a response would help.
There won't be much improvement over the weekend : short staff and a new floor with a completely different routine(if any)
Moving forward.......no estimate for travel home yet.
To be continued......

Thursday

Larry is pretty stable and adjusting to pain. Not much change but SITTING up more each day. His lack of wanting to eat is the next push forward. He needs to build strength. Very slow but sure.

Again  I thank all for being there for us.

HAPPY THURSDAY

Maine medical center

Larry is making some improvement. His breathing issues were compromised greatly because of his 5 broken ribs. It does seem that in the recent changes in his pain meds has helped him over the hump. Or lump or is it bump.. Doing better.
All the aches pains from bouncing on the pavement are just going to take time to work themselves out.  Pelvic fracture should take care of itself.
 Pain managed..
.. Next process occupational therapy .
Getting out of bed and sitting up will help build strength. A week in bed and pain has made this effort a huge challenge.
Anything and everything  for the next three months has to be done with a back brace. Whenever he is out of bed BACK BRACE. Proper movement and training so as not to  do any more damage to his crushed disc.

To be continued.......every other day
THANK YOU EVERYONE  FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT.

FATHERS DAY

         HAPPY FATHERS DAY !
Not much improvement from yesterday. Although , he is shifting himself in the bed. Weekend treatment limited. Tomorrow physical and occupational therapy . O.P. should get him up and moving to improve his strength. All will help him get back home.
We are still in beautiful Down town Portland, Maine. . First day of sunshine. Have not been sight seeing yet . Maybe next time.
Thank you all for prayers and concern.

Saturday long journey

Saturday morning show great improvement on pain management . Nurses are changing his position every 2 hours which helps with breathing issues caused from the (5) broke ribs.
He is showing a little sense of humor as well as what ever his hospital gown doesn't cover. Lots of bruises and could have been a hell of a lot worse.  ( but he would say REALLY). He is miserable , but to be expected.
Greatfull that we wear protective gear. Thank you to S.C.M.A  for introducing us to this great riding gear.. AEROSTITCH.

Friday 13th journey on

We are still in beautiful down town Portland, Maine . (Rainy day). A ward of the medical centers special care unit.  Once his epidural for broken ribs is done, he will have a catheter with a button to control the pain. In turn will help  the breathing.
When the breathing is good, he can sit up with a back brace for the stabilization of  the vertebrae. Then he will fancy a walker to relieve  pressure on his fractured pelvic.
The adventure goes forward waiting to go home.
Will continue as he progresses. For now lots of drugs for pain control.
Thank for coming along for the ride.

To be continued.......

Journies end

I can't say enough about the hospitality of the INN OF ACADIA, well done.
Our ride Tuesday through Maine was wet all day. Stopped to regroup at rest stop,
so did the rain. Headed up 95 on grooved road and a very bad unmarked uneven pavement.
Well I think big red :R T   Still has a little of Mr. greenjeans in him. Big red is at a tow company.
Larry in the hospital. A BIT GRUMPY . But starting to heal. A few fractured ribs. Broken hip and a bulging disk #2 disk. NO SURGERY. Lots of pain.
So ends this particular adventure . Tomorrow another one begins.
When we eventually get home, will tell you all about our wonderful stay

U.S. Bound

We left Quebec City headed for the border. Had breakfast at a great hotel in Montmagny. Good eggs Benedict . A little language barrier, but the waitress did figure it out. Rode a whopping 207 miles today. Again the weather couldn't be better. (Knock on wood). Madawaska , another corner done.
Stayed at a converted convent, the INN OF ACADIA. Reasonable with great amenities . Known as the Bikers Hotel and watering hole.
Met Joe Lachance at the 4 Corners Park. Bought a Paver for 2012. And a couple shirts. Did the usual hand shake . Joe hooked us up  with the hotel and took us to a friend that fixed little red flat tire. Thank goodness for all roadside assistance tools.

Touring Friday

Yesterday was a wash. Rained all day except when we stopped. Today made up for it. 453 sunny miles  to Paw Paw, Mi. Rode through 4 states  . I was glad to leave rainy  Minnesota . It seemed  as though we spent most of the day riding through  Chicago . Good bye Chicago , hello Indiana. Spent less time riding through  Indiana  than we did the city of Chicago . Kickstand down in Michigan. Tomorrow headed for Canada.

Journey on

Our journey continues. After bunking at home last night we got a late start. It wasn't till 1:00 pm . Good idea to stop at home. Did not have to cook, my son and his wife brought great home made lasagne dinner.  AND MY  3 MONTH OLD GRANDSON OTIS. (future rider)  Big red, the hd -rt  needed  new pipes., they were loose and very loud. Also changed carburetor for better mileage.  At same time, little red ( my hd- sporty) needed a big break adjustment. My new helmet came in , sooo the intercom was switched. All is good now . Got 300 miles in,  and listen to a band at the Best Western in Shasta city. Tomorrow a new new day headed for Blaine , Wa.

After riding 566 miles today,   we stopped at our home on the way north to  Blaine, Washington. Tomorrow is  another day of great expectation.
